Club Rules

Members

As with all sports, there are certain rules we must follow. Below are the rules we use on our courses at Pine Ridge Archers, our Bylaws and the etiquette of a good archer.

 Pine Ridge Courses

All Pine Ridge courses are unmarked. We do not distinguish between males and females – everyone shoots against each other in their Division, and we have no Veterans division. Basic rules we follow are:

  • For your score to count towards annual trophies, you must shoot with at least one other person
  • Scorecards must be signed by two people
  • Arrows must be clearly numbered 1,2,3 and be shot in the correct order
  • When shooting, stand with your foot behind, and touching the peg
  • No overhead drawing
  • Do not discuss the distance with other archers, at any time
  • No range finders on the course at any time, but binoculars of any magnification may be used
  • Do not touch the arrows until all scores have been recorded
  • On two and three zone printed ANZUS silhouette target faces the arrow must cut through the line into the higher zone to score the higher points
  • On 3D targets the arrow only needs to touch the line to score the higher points
  • When looking for lost arrows, one member of the group MUST stand in front of the target to warn following archers that people may be behind the target
  • Cell phones must be turned to “silent” at all times
  • Typically we shoot 3-zone targets and the scoring is Heart (20 points), Lung (18 points) and Body (16 points). If you miss with your first arrow, depending on the rules of the day, you may be allowed to shoot a second or third arrow.
