All visitors are welcome and the Club is open all year round on Sunday mornings. Occasionally the Club will be closed for maintenance or when we are travelling to other events, these dates will be published on our website and Facebook page.
First time visitors are catered for on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, and we request that people wanting their first archery experience email us to make an appointment ahead of time. A Duty Officer is rostered to meet newcomers and run an introductory course in a safe environment. Instruction is given using Genesis and Genesis Junior compound bows, we generally do not cater for visitors who wish to use a recurve bow.
Archery is an excellent sport for families to participate in, however children need to be at least eight years old to be able to listen and understand instructions and to shoot our training bows. Archery is a very safe sport and in order to ensure the safety of all people we insist that all participants are prepared to listen and abide by the instructions given by the Duty Officers and Committee members. People who are unable to follow directions will not be permitted to participate.
Keeping Safe
Archery is a fun and challenging sport for people of all ages, however there are a few basic rules and guidelines that need to be followed to make it safe for you and everybody else.
Pine Ridge Archery Club is based on a working farm, so there are a number of hazards that may change from day-to-day or season-to-season. A little common sense will go a long way to keeping you safe.
There are maps in the club room that outline the hazardous areas. Some of these hazards include but are not limited to ponds, creeks, steep terrain, unstable banks, slippery surfaces, other farm users, machinery, working farm dogs and farm animals.
Indemnity Form
Every time you shoot it is compulsory to sign the Indemnity Form and pay your shoot fee. This is a requirement both of the Pine Ridge Club and the landowners who kindly permit us to use the property. It has been designed in conjunction with the landowners in order to protect them, the property, Pine Ridge members and visitors. Please comply with this request.
Visitors must be on site by 8:45am, and we recommend hiking boots or gumboots in the spring and winter months. We have equipment available for visitors to use, your first visit is free and gear is available for hire after that time. It is essential that Juniors and Cubs under 17 years are accompanied by an adult.
Access to the club is via a private driveway at the end of Maddaford Road, Ararimu, a short 5 minute drive from the Southern Motorway. The private driveway goes all the way down to the clubhouse and there is ample parking. As the Club is located in the middle of a working farm we ask everyone to adhere to the speed limit, close any gates that you open and not scare the stock.
Equipment hire
Equipment is available for hire to members after their initial introduction to archery. We will provide free coaching and equipment for their first visit. The fees thereafter are as follows:
Equipment Hire: $10.00ea
Visitor Fee: $12.00ea
Family: $20.00 per day for equipment and visitor fees
$10 per lost or broken arrow
